Please note that the police department members are expected to attend to 911 calls in which police personnel are required. As a department, if the calls aren't covered, we are not building up the department. It is also expected that officers collect reports from citizens that come to the station. Also, all officers need to strive to be a model concerning the sim rules.
Below is the chain of command for the police officers in the San Carlo Police Department. Any higher rank also has the responsibilities of the ranks underneath it.
CHIEF
The highest rank in the San Carlo Police Department, only occupied by one person at the time. Responsible for the hiring and dismissal of personnel to the department, and the management of the department in all aspects.
LIEUTENANT
Responsible for approval of operations, internal selection of personnel to their division, as well as acting as a magistrate in SCPD, to ensure that the department runs smoothly. It may act as assistants to the police chief, under request.
SERGEANT
Responsible for the training, supervision and guidance of officers concerning all activities, and coordination at crime scenes and police operations and act as a liaison between their subordinates and the upper management.
CORPORAL
A veteran officer in the force, responsible for the training, supervision and guidance of officers and rookies concerning day-to-day procedures. They also wield the power to take the first disciplinary actions when an officer underneath them in the chain of command commits a misdemeanor against the law or against the proper police procedures, if needed.
OFFICER
The backbone of the police department, they are expected to know how to write reports, collect evidence, issue citations for traffic violations and misdemeanors and maintain the peace in San Carlo.
ROOKIE
It's a officer in training, and when possible, should pair with another officer, of any rank above them, for training purposes. They need to show knowledge concerning how to properly complete reports, collect evidence and issue citations for traffic violations and misdemeanors, before they are promoted to a regular officer.
Detectives (and aspiring detectives) don’t outrank regular officers, but they have some authority over the cases that they are assigned to. When a detective is promoted to corporal or above, they are still a detective as well as their new rank.
