DESCRIPTION
At approximately 9:22 am, police dispatch receives a call from a concerned bystander, outside of Ms. DeRosa's residence, stating someone was brandishing a gun and a wooden baseball bat at the victim. Detective Rathburn was the first responder to scene. Upon arrival, a single shot was fired, and the detective did draw his sidearm. Approaching with caution behind a stone barricade, it was noted that clear evidence that a window had been broken out was present, and inside it was observed by Rathburn that the perpetrator, namely Ms. Ashley Desire, had a gun drawn and pointing in the general direction of the victim. Calling for backup, and announcing himself as an officer of the law, Rathburn was able to coerce Ms. Desire to comply with dropping her weapons and coming out peacefully. Shortly after restraining and removing a satchel (empty) from Ms. Desire, Officer Yheng arrived on scene to assist. Rathburn placed Ms. Desire into Yheng custody for booking and arraignment back at the station. Securing the scene, Rathburn proceeded to collect evidence, and on-scene statement from Ms. DeRosa before clearing the scene and returning to the station.
